- I should first apologize for both being sidetracked and also for not keeping up the log with all the things that have been going on. This entry will summarize. Over the last month most of the final operational code has been written, databases enhanced and interaction with our internal system set up. Now all updates to your data are automatically pushed out from our local system as we enter them. The order system has been developed and initially tested using new browser features. While the technical term AJAX may not mean register with you it means your selections are pushed from your browser to our server so that you don't have to constantly reload pages. There are too many things to list and more being done. I will cover new features completed in the next update.

- Let's be candid. Kitty Hooch is is becoming a phenomenon. With dozens of new stores across the country every month and hundreds of existing stores we are getting back to there is no way we can keep the wheels oiled without automation. I'm pleased to announce the store locator has been updated. In the past we had only a few products and not many of them went out wholesale for various reasons. Now our product index is nearing 100 and most are going out to our stores. We used to have the products stores carried in a database field separated by commas. We have moved to an industrial strength design. Now each product is listed in a row in the store product table. Included in this row is the last date your store purchased the product and the expiration date for showing it as store inventory. For most products that number is 18 months. The idea is we would like to maintain integrity with the customers we are jointly wooing. As we continue to develop the site you will be able to view order history and your present standing for product listing. We plan on enabling you to set up email reminders. In any case you will be notified if a product is nearing expiration. If you note any discrepancies please notify us right away.

- Alison has been busy calling wholesale accounts and Eric has been busy working on internal data management tools. In preparing to update this site it was discovered our main internal address management file was broken and had not been updated since our move to a new server. Active development is resuming. - Updated product page.
- 3/9/06
- Store data table has been revised to better manage the various relationships stores may have that need to be reflected for admin. Request forms for authorization nearly complete as well as an extensive review of previously built administrative tools. As with designs of this nature some amount of time passes on various tasks while developing a clear vision of how to resolve numerous issues cleanly.
- 3/8/06
- The initial draft of the product page is done as well as a thorough update of the new product database table. More needs to be done but now we can build on the new model. This will allow for consistent data sharing between wholesale and retail with no favored side as well as instant access to any new product as soon as it's entered into the database. There will be no waiting for page updates. Because the wholesale side is under development it is the advance development wing at this time for new systems.
- 3/3/06
- Work has been ongoing in updating the database and administrative tools as well as resolving issues relevant to developing a maintainable system for wholesale and retail product management with extensive options. Next we will also begin work on switching to a new server with updated software that will facilitate several design enhancements. Aside from web work this is also the time of year for setting up greenhouses and planting. Be patient. We will be bringing in software developers we contract with shortly.
- 2/17/06
- More work on the database and entry system, systematic data definitions for product groupings. Initial design for detail table for furniture items that will allow customers to order replacement parts for cat furniture.
- 2/16/06
- Redesigned product database table adding 16 fields and began moving data from object oriented PHP class files and rewriting a new product class. This will simplify order handling and facilitate retail and wholesale as well as real time inventory management. In fact integration between our local ordering and inventory management system and will mean online orders can have realistic lead times displayed for a given product.
- 2/15/06
- Added database table for authorization. Store owners will be able to authorize administrators to issue privileges to others to add users, order product, view prices or just access our training materials. For each user authorized a demo product will be sent to the store in their name. Work was also begun on extracing all product data out to individual files for access on both wholesale and retail sides. Our product line is being moved from partly database and files to all database due to it's complexity.
